Number 82
This semi-detached Victorian house in Peckham was in poor condition, with damp issues and structural errors that needed correcting. The brief was to reconnect a lower ground-floor flat to the main house above, while extending into the garden to create a generous kitchen and dining area in place of the cramped existing kitchen.
The new extension features large skylights and a green roof, leading out onto a sunken patio that takes advantage of the evening light offered by the long, west-facing garden. It boasts a spacious kitchen with stainless-steel countertops, and the yellow of the extension’s façade is echoed inside on the cabinetry fronts.
The lower ground floor contains the informal family spaces, while the upper ground floor houses an office and a more formal living area. On the first floor, the layout has been reconfigured to create a large master bedroom with an ensuite and generous wardrobes, as well as a nursery, with the remaining bedrooms on the top floor.
